Introduction to the Pentatonic Scale
Up until now, the focus has been on internalising the theoretical aspects of the CAGED system. This foundation is crucial for mastering the guitar’s fretboard. However, the time has come to transition to more practice.
The next phase involves a series of fundamental exercises and sequences designed to enhance your technical skills and unlock more melodic possibilities. These exercises will not only solidify your grasp of the CAGED system but will also expand your ability to navigate the fretboard with ease and creativity.
Focus on technique
When concentrating on technique, you can slightly relax your focus on the CAGED system intervals and structure. The primary goal here is to refine your ability to play pentatonic scales in a clear, articulate manner.
Incorporate various techniques such as hammer-ons, pull-offs, and slides to enhance your execution. Remember, practicing technique is ineffective without a metronome, so this will play a large part in the next stage. Timing is personality in music.
